As part of the “Theater lesson in Mariinsky” cultural and educational project, an introductory phase of sociological monitoring has begun. This monitoring is carried out by St.Petersburg State University with the help of Education Committee of St.Petersburg. The monitoring aims to collect data about ways senior students use to understand city’s cultural space. The results of the monitoring will help find ways and means to more effectively influence the cultural development of young city residents. The results will then be provided to the management team of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Education Committee of St.Petersburg. The monitoring includes administration of paper-and-pencil survey among the 10-th graders, Internet survey of the 11-th graders and focus groups with senior students and teachers. The development of questionnaires and focus group guides has begun.
